Carpenter Tan Is A Person And A Group Of People.

Driven by my love for wood and respect for nature, I devote myself to creating with care, finding joy in life through craftsmanship.

Founded in 1993 with the very first Tan Mujiang hair comb, Tan Mujiang has grown into one of the world’s leading wooden comb brands. In 2023, we celebrated our 30th anniversary, with more than 1,100 offline stores across the globe.

Many of our pieces are crafted with time-honored techniques—some involving up to 72 intricate steps—using responsibly sourced materials and safe, non-toxic finishes. Each comb is more than just a functional tool; it embodies a mindful ritual and restores the natural beauty of wood.

Tan Mujiang’s Story :

Founded in 1981 with humble beginnings, Tan Mujiang grew from a small workshop in 1993, guided by the values of honesty, hard work, and happiness. By 1998, it pioneered franchising, adopted ISO standards in 2003, and began expanding globally in 2005. In 2009, Tan Mujiang was honored as part of China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and later went public in Hong Kong.

Since 2014, the brand has revitalized its image, participated in international exhibitions, and earned recognition for its corporate social responsibility. Rooted in craftsmanship, Tan Mujiang continues to pursue its vision: to be the world’s finest wooden comb brand.

Natural Materials

At Tan Mujiang, environmental responsibility lies at the heart of our brand philosophy. Our combs are thoughtfully crafted with care, using eco-friendly materials that honor both nature and tradition. The wood we source comes from sustainably managed forests, ensuring a continuous supply without depleting the environment. Some collections feature rare, carefully selected woods such as [Specific Wood Names from the official website], highlighting the uniqueness of each piece.

We also use an environmentally friendly, non-toxic lacquer that enhances the natural beauty of the combs while ensuring safe, worry-free use. By choosing a Tan Mujiang comb, you are not only investing in a high-quality haircare tool, but also making a mindful choice for a more sustainable planet.

Intangible Cultural Heritage

At Tan Mujiang, we honor tradition by integrating China’s intangible cultural heritage into the art of wooden comb making. Mother-of-pearl inlay captures the iridescent beauty of natural shells, adding luminous elegance to the wood. Lacquer art applies layers of natural lacquer, hand-polished to create a smooth, timeless finish that grows richer with age. Cloisonné enamel outlines intricate patterns with fine metal wires, filled with vibrant enamel colors that bring each design to life.

More than craftsmanship, these techniques embody cultural heritage and artistry. Each comb is not only a practical tool, but also a work of art that carries the warmth of handcraft and the essence of Eastern aesthetics.
