Ebony belongs to the Ebenaceae (Persimmon) family and is classified as rosewood. Its scientific name is Striped Ebony, indicating it is ebony with stripes, a type of rosewood mainly produced in Indonesia. It is a tree species with a tall form, some even growing up to 40 meters. Striped Ebony sapwood is reddish-brown, heartwood is deep black or chestnut brown.

The wood color is pleasing, the grain harmonious, the structure fine and uniform, the material heavy and hard, featuring natural alternating light and dark stripes. Wood products made from Ebony are smooth and fine, with clear grain, appearing noble yet vibrant, possessing a unique sense of fashion.
